Julie Bowes
Teacher Resident
Julie Bowes is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Early Childhood Education track. She has explored her passion for teaching by volunteering and studying all over the world. Moving forward, Julie will “teach to the whole child and recognize that all students learn and develop differently. [She] will provide each student the opportunity to succeed, all the while recognizing that „success‟ is not uniform .”
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia
Marija Crosson
Teacher Resident
Marija Crosson is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Elementary Education track. After being exposed to the achievement gap that existed within schools, Marija realized that she wanted to take an active role in ensuring that every student received equal treatment in the classroom. She wants to empower and inspire her students to achieve their full potential and take responsibility for their education. She is excited about relocating to DC and the future ahead.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology/Sociology from St. Olaf College
John Howard
Teacher Resident
John Howard is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Elementary Education track. John was the first member of his family to attend college, and as such, he understands the value of education. He wants to be a change-maker in the world and hopes, as a teacher, to inspire his students to make a difference. While teaching might be overwhelming at first, John is excited to take to self-reflect and grow throughout the process.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College
Jordan Loftis
Teacher Resident
Jordan Loftis is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Elementary Education track. With past experience as a tutor and summer program coordinator at a children’s camp, Jordan has demonstrated his range of skills in working with children. He believes that a supportive learning environment can have a transformative impact on children and can provide excellent opportunities to succeed.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy from Colgate University
Kelly McNulty
Teacher Resident
Kelly McNulty is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Early Childhood Education track. Kelly comes from a family of teachers, and knew early on that this was her passion. Given her interest in child development, Kelly plans on devoting individual attention to every student to ensure that their learning needs are met. She wants to be a hands-on teacher who incorporates fun learning games, crafts, and a variety of materials into her lessons.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology/Sociology and American Studies (Social Justice Concentration) from Lafayette College
Omar Saibou
Teacher Resident
Omar Saibou is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Early Childhood Education track. Previously Omar served as an English teacher in West Africa and as a pilot. It is his diverse background that contributes to his perspective on education. He believes that children cannot be forced to learn, rather that they must be incorporated into the learning process and inspired by their teachers.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems
Anna Shoup
Teacher Resident
Anna Shoup is a 2011 Inspired Teaching Fellow-in-Residence in the Elementary Education track. She believes that students need encouragement early on in their academic careers in order to foster expectations for success. Every student can learn given the proper support, and she wants to give all of her students the opportunity to achieve great things.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Journalism/English with a minor in French from Miami University
