Principal in Residence

Brandon Johnson began his career in education with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District where he served at an alternative high school. In his tenure there he worked as one of the school’s community-based social workers and interim teachers. In conjunction with working full time, Mr. Johnson attended graduate school at Case Western Reserve University where he obtained his certificate in Nonprofit Management and Masters in Science and Social Administration. After completing his degree, Brandon Johnson was accepted into the Urban Teacher Residency Program in 2011.

He began his career as a 3rd grade math and science educator while obtaining additional masters in elemeentary & special education. To enhance his skills, Mr. Johnson partook in many fellowships and leadership roles such as Education Innovation Fellowship, Teachers Central to Leadership, Chancellor’s Cabinet, Teacher Selection Ambassador, Department Chair and Grade level lead. In addition to serving as a general education teacher, Mr. Johnson worked as a middle school special education teacher. In his most recent role, Brandon served as Math Instructional Coach where he was responsible for the vision and implementation of the K-8 Math Department for several years.

Brandon Johnson is now serving as a Principal in Residence with the middle school. As co-founder, Brandon Johnson will utilize his learning as a Resident Leader to launch the Social Justice Middle School in 2020, as the founding Principal.
